The Art of Renaissance Draping: Turning Fabric into Fine Art

Explore the history of Renaissance drapery and learn how fabric can transform a simple space into an elegant, fine-art-inspired backdrop. In this hands-on workshop, Jonathan will show participants how textiles were used by Renaissance artists to create depth, movement and luxury feel while exploring how those same principles can be applied to modern photography and set design.

Through demonstrations and guided hands-on exercises, you'll explore fabric types, weight, texture, shien, stretch, and draping behavior while learning techniques including pleating, layering, weaving, pinning, and shaping. You'll also learn how to determine fabric quantities and use principles such as balance, contrast, proportion, repetition, and negative space to create a drapery installation. Participants will work together to create a Renaissance inspired backdrop and learn how to polish the installation for photography.

Design a garment-ready graphic discover how Photoshop has become one of the most powerful tools in modern apparel design. In this hands-on workshop, participants will work through the process of creating a vintage-inspired graphic T-shirt that is both visually compelling and ready for production.

Using Adobe Photoshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of designing for streetwear apparel, including composition, typography, color, texture/distressing techniques, and preparing artwork for print. We'll also explore the history of Photoshop and its influence on the streetwear industry, highlighting influential designers that have helped shape today's graphic apparel culture. Throughout the workshop, you'll gain practical insight into the creative process, garment selection, and how thoughtful design choices translate into a finished product people want to wear.

In this live demonstration, Vel, Charles, and Collyn break down the complete creative process, from concept development and production to editing and final design.

Using mood boards, behind-the-scenes footage, RAW images, video timelines, and original design files, you'll experience live demonstrations that recreate key moments of the project. Learn how creative direction, lighting, editing, color grading, typography, and layout all work together to transform a single idea into a polished product.
